TAPLAB
Wallcovering developed through Italian printing expertise
TapLab was created in Tuscany in 2014 as the wallcovering division of Tap Grafiche, a company active in specialist printing since 1953. This background gives the brand a different starting point from a conventional wallpaper producer. Its expertise lies in image reproduction, colour management and the precise definition of graphics across materials with different textures and technical properties.
The catalogue moves between botanical compositions, geometric studies, painterly surfaces, architectural references and experimental graphics. Annual editions are complemented by special collections and collaborations with Italian and international designers, creating a varied visual library for residential interiors, hospitality spaces and more expressive commercial projects.
Among its most distinctive proposals, Animavera explores the visual character of natural and decorative materials. Wood, Carrara marble, stone, fabric, jute, raffia, rattan, sisal, mouldings and tapestry are reinterpreted as wall surfaces. Rather than reproducing them literally, the collection works with their texture, colour and visual rhythm, offering designers a lighter and more adaptable way to introduce material references into an interior.
The CEILINGS collection extends the decorative project beyond the walls. Classical ceilings, architectural inlays, Renaissance ornament, historic galleries, tapestries and vaulted surfaces are reorganised for contemporary spaces. These compositions bring attention to a surface that is often left neutral, allowing the ceiling to define entrances, dining rooms, hospitality interiors and other architecturally important areas.
TapLab’s printing expertise is supported by a versatile range of materials, including textile-effect vinyl, metallic surfaces, fibreglass for humid areas and acoustic wallcoverings. This allows the same graphic research to be adapted to living spaces, bathrooms, wellness areas, restaurants, hotels and commercial projects.
One of the most unusual developments is LabScent, a pretreated wallcovering that gradually releases fragrance into the room. Available in several olfactory profiles, it introduces a sensory dimension to the surface and is particularly relevant for hospitality, retail and interiors where atmosphere forms an important part of the design.
Each wallcovering is produced to order and adapted to the dimensions of the wall or ceiling. Scale, crop, colour and graphic positioning can be studied before production, allowing the composition to respond accurately to doors, furniture, lighting and other architectural elements instead of being repeated mechanically across the surface.
TapLab combines decades of printing knowledge with a flexible approach to image, material and scale. Its strength lies not only in the breadth of its graphics, but in the ability to translate them across walls, ceilings and technical surfaces while preserving colour depth, clarity and compositional balance.
