CE.SI. has specialised in glazed and unglazed porcelain stoneware for more than six decades, building its identity around something deceptively simple but technically demanding: colour. With roots connected to the Fumagalli family’s experience in flooring materials dating back to 1872, the company has developed a highly focused approach to ceramic surfaces, where chromatic depth, modularity and technical precision work together.
Colour is the foundation of the CE.SI. catalogue. Rather than treating it as an accent within individual collections, the brand develops extensive coordinated palettes across matte, glossy and selected antislip surfaces. Its I Colori collection alone moves through more than sixty shades and surface variations, from architectural neutrals to unusually saturated yellows, reds, greens and blues.
At the centre of this system is the 10 × 10 cm tile — a recurring format across virtually the entire colour palette and one of the clearest expressions of CE.SI.’s design language. It is a deliberately simple module, but one that becomes remarkably versatile through colour, repetition and combination. Around it, the range expands into 5 × 5, 5 × 20, 6 × 25, 10 × 20, 15 × 15, 20 × 20 and 30 × 30 cm formats, mesh-mounted mosaics and larger rectangular modules.
But CE.SI. becomes particularly interesting when the basic module gives way to decorative geometry. Octagons, hexagons, Diamantato and Reverso pieces, Butterfly mosaics and an extensive family of trims and special elements allow the same colour system to move from simple monochromatic fields to intricate geometric compositions. The decoration comes as much from the way the pieces are composed as from the tile itself.
This modularity is engineered rather than merely visual. CE.SI. specifically develops its formats around constant calibre, flatness and orthogonality, allowing different sizes, colours and finishes to be combined within the same composition. The result gives architects unusual freedom to create patterns, transitions and changes of scale while maintaining the precision of the finished surface.
This makes CE.SI. particularly relevant for bathrooms, hospitality, retail, public spaces and interiors where ceramic is used almost graphically — to define zones, introduce rhythm, create borders or build bespoke compositions. Rather than reproducing marble, stone or wood, CE.SI. treats colour, geometry and repetition as the design material itself.
