Italian doors developed as part of the architecture of an interior

Bertolotto was founded in Piedmont in 1988 and has grown from a specialist door manufacturer into a company capable of addressing the complete relationship between rooms, walls and openings. Its production combines industrial capacity with a distinctly Italian attention to materials, colour, surface treatment and decorative detail.

The range extends well beyond conventional interior doors. It includes hand-finished and water-based lacquers, selected natural wood veneers, structured wood-effect surfaces, glass and aluminium partitions, flush-to-wall systems, security entrance doors and certified solutions for hospitality and contract projects. The quality and variety of these materials allow each door to be specified according to both the architectural character and the technical requirements of the interior.

One of Bertolotto’s principal strengths is the variety of opening systems available. Alongside traditional hinged doors, the company develops pocket and external-wall sliding systems, folding configurations, space-saving roto-translating doors and large glass partitions with wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted or recessed tracks. These solutions respond equally well to narrow corridors, compact rooms, generous openings and spaces that need to be divided without losing light or visual continuity.

The Filomuro range takes a distinctly architectural approach. An extruded aluminium frame can be integrated into masonry or plasterboard, while the door leaf can be supplied primed for finishing in the same colour or material as the wall. Bertolotto also produces custom full-height Filomuro doors that extend to the ceiling, removing the conventional upper frame and creating an uninterrupted vertical surface. Depending on the project, the opening can almost disappear within the architecture or become a precisely defined contrasting element.

Bertolotto also maintains a substantial decorative vocabulary. Pantographed surfaces, engraved geometries, relief patterns, matt and high-gloss lacquers, natural wood grains and a broad choice of RAL colours give the door a stronger visual identity. Collaborations with artist Elio Garis and architect Gianni Arnaudo have produced designs in which graphic motifs, sculptural relief and architectural research are applied directly to the surface.

The relationship between door and wall is developed further through coordinated boiserie. Panels can continue the colour, grain or geometry of the door across an entire wall, integrating openings, niches and fitted elements into a single composition. Selected finishes can also be used on security doors or adapted to certified fire-resistant and acoustic models, allowing technical performance to remain visually consistent with the rest of the project.

For contemporary interiors, glass and aluminium systems provide a lighter alternative to solid partitions. Transparent, extra-clear, smoked and reflective glass can be combined with slim metal profiles and different track configurations to separate kitchens, living areas, offices or hospitality spaces while preserving light and spatial depth.

Security doors complete the portfolio with reinforced structures, anti-intrusion components and options for acoustic and thermal insulation. Their internal surfaces can be coordinated with the interior-door collections, avoiding the visual interruption usually created by a purely technical entrance door.

Bertolotto’s strength lies in its ability to move between different architectural languages while maintaining control over materials, finishes and the complete opening system. Minimal full-height doors, decorative lacquered models, natural wood, glazed partitions, boiserie and technical doors can all be developed as connected parts of the same interior.
