Outdoor furniture shaped by Mediterranean design and advanced material technology

Founded in Valencia in 2008, Vondom has developed a distinctive approach to outdoor living, bringing together furniture, lighting and architectural planters in collections conceived as complete environments. Its designs are equally at home on a private terrace, beside a swimming pool or within the outdoor areas of a hotel, restaurant or business project.

The portfolio covers dining chairs and tables, modular sofas, lounge seating, sun loungers, daybeds, counters, rugs, lighting and an extensive range of planters. This breadth allows an entire exterior to be developed through coordinated forms, colours and materials, rather than assembled from unrelated pieces.

Vondom’s technical identity is closely linked to two complementary manufacturing processes. Rotational moulding is used to create polyethylene furniture and planters with generous volumes, seamless surfaces and sculptural geometries. Gas-assisted injection moulding, applied to polypropylene reinforced with fibreglass, makes it possible to produce lighter, more precise and frequently stackable pieces suited to the practical demands of hospitality and contract projects.

The material palette extends well beyond moulded polymers. Vondom works with powder-coated aluminium, teak, iroko and ash, flexible polyurethane, polycarbonate, HPL, concrete and recycled plastics. These materials allow the collections to move between expressive monolithic forms, lighter framed furniture and more tactile compositions incorporating wood, rope and upholstery.

Particular attention is given to the textiles used outdoors. Vondom’s technical fabrics are developed and tested to resist water, stains, UV exposure, low temperatures and mould. Unlike conventional indoor upholstery, they are designed to manage repeated exposure to moisture and changing weather conditions without rapidly losing their colour or performance. They should not be described as never becoming wet, but their protective treatments limit water absorption, simplify cleaning and allow them to dry more efficiently after rain or use around a swimming pool.

The same attention to outdoor performance extends to the rugs, produced from recycled plastic and designed to resist water, heat and ultraviolet exposure. Through the Vondom Revolution programme, selected furniture collections also use recycled polypropylene obtained from fishing nets, plastic bottles and waste collected around the Mediterranean, transforming recovered material into durable pieces intended for continued exterior use.

Colour remains integral to the brand’s flexibility. Furniture, planters and upholstery are available in an extensive choice of finishes, while selected pieces incorporate lighting within their structure. Planters, counters and sculptural objects can therefore contribute to both the daytime composition and the atmosphere of terraces, pools and hospitality settings after dark.

International collaborations have given the portfolio its stylistic range. Ramón Esteve, Jean-Marie Massaud, Marcel Wanders, Eugeni Quitllet, Karim Rashid, Stefano Giovannoni and Eero Aarnio are among the designers who have contributed to Vondom’s catalogue. Their work ranges from restrained modular systems to highly recognisable sculptural pieces, while remaining connected through the brand’s Mediterranean character and material research.
